+Presumably inspired by the wandering hours complication designed in 1656 by the Italian Compani brothers for Pope Alexander XII, this Audemars Piguet ref. 25720BA ‘’Star Wheel’’ features several eccentric details, first and foremost being the time display visible through three sapphire disks with hour indications, all rotating on a center wheel. The hours displayed on the discs point to the minutes visible on a 120-degree sector, in which it will glide along the sector for a full hour, in which the sapphire discs will once again jump into a new hour position and glide along the minute track. This particular example from 1993 is encased in 36mm yellow gold with stepped bezel, traditional guilloche-decorated lower dial and furthermore powered by the automatic JLC-920 based calibre 2124.
